PANAMA: BEAUTIFUL, WILD AND FREE YOGA RETREAT

August 26th - 31st, 2024

Last year I visited Panama in hopes of finding a spot for a yoga retreat. When I stepped off the boat at the Casa Cayuco Eco lodge on the remote island of Bastimentos, I was taken by an overwhelming sense of freedom. I felt like I had gone back in time and discovered a hidden paradise.

I can’t wait to share this experience with you.

This retreat is for the adventurous souls amongst you who are looking for a chance to get away and discover a remote island where you can become completely engulfed in natural beauty and wilderness.

Imagine yourself sleeping in an open air lodge surrounded by the sounds of waves and wildlife. You awaken to a view of the ocean, grab your yoga mat and a cup of coffee as you make your way to your morning yoga and meditation practice surrounded by the sounds and sights of nature. As you lay in Shavasana you hear the distant sound of the conche beckoning you to a locally sourced breakfast followed by a day of excursions or complete relaxation.

YOGA

Your retreat is hosted by Melissa Coppola and Michelle Blanchette. Our Yoga practice will reflect feeling of freedom that you will experience when you arrive at Casa Cayuco as we work up the chakras in a liberating current letting go of the stresses and obligations of your daily life and tapping into your intuition. The island and ocean is a playground for practicing mindfulness and intuitive living in between morning and evening yoga sessions.

Whether you need time for quiet reflection or connection with others, daily excursions or time to rest; we have built flexibility into the schedule to allow you to listen to what your mind, body and spirit need and engage as much or as little as you feel called to do each day.

FOOD

All food is included including locally grown, small batch coffee an tea every morning, chef’s choice locally sourced breakfast, lunch and 3-course dinner and an afternoon snack.

LODGING

Retreat guests will be staying in Estrella De Mar, the newly completed tropical beachfront villa for this retreat. The epitome of Caribbean living, this two-story villa offers a captivating seafront view and unparalleled tranquility. Featuring three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and a spacious sea-view balcony. The home seamlessly blends open-air tropical living with the comfort of fully climate-controlled bedrooms.

Your retreat hosts Michelle & Melissa will be staying in Mono, a separate Lodge tucked in the jungle above the open air yoga room where you will have unlimited access to practice and meditate outside of group classes.

RELAX

Should you choose to skip the excursions you will have unlimited access to sea kayaks, stand up paddle boards, binoculars and your own set of snorkeling gear that you can use on the beach just outside the door of your lodge. You will find plenty of quite spaces in your lodge, by the water and in the main cabin to read, nap, meditate, and journal.

EXCURSIONS

As breakfast commences you will learn about the available excursions for the day based on the weather and interest from the group. Included in the trip is a visit to a neighboring indigenous village, an excursion to go snorkeling in the mangroves, and a guided hike through the wilderness surrounding the lodge.

Additional trips can be taken to a wild bat cave, monkey rehabilitation preservation, additional snorkeling trips, fishing, surfing or touring a local Chocolate farm.

TRIP DETAILS

  • Casa Cayuco is located in Punta Vieja on the remote island of Bastimentos.

Making your way to Casa Cayuco is part of the adventure! We will support you in booking every leg of your travel.

We recommend flying into Panama City and transferring to Panama City Albrook Airport (PAC) to catch a flight to Bocas del Toro (BOC).

A far more inexpensive option is to take an overnight bus from Panama City to Almirante which leaves daily at 8pm and arrives at 6am. From Almirante, you take a 30-minute water taxi ride to Bocas Town where we will pick you up and take you to Casa Cayuco.

Our Eco Lodge has a scheduled daily 3 PM boat trip from Bocas del Toro to Bastimentos.

If flying from Panama City to Bocas we recommend arriving on Air Panama Flight 980 from Panama City which gets to Bocas around 2:00pm. Our recommended departure flight leaves Bocas at approximately 2:30pm with Air Panama Flight 981.

These flights coincide with our daily boat transfer. If you arrive on our recommended flights from Panama City, our boat captain will meet you at the airport with a sign.
